We get up and go to work everyday so we can earn money.
In this blog post, we are going to learn what God wants us to do to inherit eternal life.
In our world today,we do certain things inorder to gain other things.Similarly,the sole purpose we work hard,is so that we can afford the basic amenities of life.
That goes for our lives on Earth.
What happens to our lives after death as christians.?
Is there anything we need to do while we are alive ,to be able to be with our lord eternaly?
The answer is a big yes.
And that answer lies in Jesus words in our bible.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE TO THE CHRISTIAN
As a human, I work hard everyday, because I want a better future.
Similarly,as a christian, I desire for somthing better after this life on earth.For me, to inherit eternal life means to have a life free from worries, troubles and stress.
Including any other negative experiences present in our life today.
To inherit eternal life means to have such a wonderful life endlessly.Without the fear of death.
A life with our saviour Jesus Christ where everything we will ever need is provided.A wonderful place free from sin,sickness and death.
That is why Paul said in Philippians 1 vs 21 21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. That means that as christians, we should look at death as gain.
Death should be seen as a pathway to inherit eternal life.And not as an end in itself.
WHAT THEN SHOULD I DO TO INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE
There are a lot of things Jesus our Lord instructs us to do to inherit eternal life.
But however, I am going to pay particular attention to his instructions in luke 10vs 25-37.
Verses 25-28 states:
25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
26 “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”
27 He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.”
28 “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”
let us break down this answer that Jesus said is the requirement to inherit eternal life.
HOW CAN WE LOVE GOD INORDER TO INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE
Firstly, we are to love God,with all our
Heart,Soul,Strengh,and mind.
Secondly you are to love your neighbour as yourselve.
In order to love God with all our heart,we need to desire what his heart desires.That will involve seeking to understand his ways and trust him completly..
Again, our soul should only be content with what pleases God.When we use the strenght God gives us to do things that glorifies his name,then we are loving God with all our strenght.
Finally , we use our minds to plan.God wants us to love him with our minds by committing all our plans to him.So that he can guide us along the path he wants us to follow.
Those are the practical ways you can love God and inherit eternal life.
WHY SHOULD I SEEK TO INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE?
The apostle Paul said,if our life consisted only of this world,then we will be the most miserable humans on earth.1 Corinthians 15:19
For instance,all this living our lives daily as christians,turning the other cheek when we are hurt,praying for those that offend us,etc.
All will be in vain.
If there is nothing else like the ability to inherit eternal life attached to it.
Everyday is a struggle between our flesh and Spirit.Inorder to walk according to the leadings of the Spirit.

Gods Spirit in us is always willing.But our flesh is not.The reason we have to fight everyday against our flesh is so that we can be with Christ when we die.
Inorder for all those efforts not to be in vain,we need to do what Jesus requires us to do to so that we can live with him eternaly.
HOW CAN WE LOVE OUR NEIGHBOUR AS OUR SELF:
The bible scripture above says that to live eternaly with christ, we need to love our neighbour as our self.
The question is ,who does the bible say is our neighbour?
Normally ,the person that lives next to us is our neightbour.But however according to Jesus, a neighbour is more than that.
A neighbour is somebody that has a serious challenge, and needs help from you.
If you want to inherit eternal life,when God brings somebody in dire need your way,do your best to help the person.
When God brings such a person your ay, He knows that you can help the person.
At the same time, He is giving you an opportunity to do something to inherit the eternal life.

Try not to push aside sombody that is in need.I know in todays world,it is difficult to really know who is genuinly in need.
And not a fraudstar.
That is why we need to pray everyday to be sensitive to the leading of the spirit.This will help us to know when God brings a really needy person our way.And subsequently we will not miss the opportunity to do something to inherit eternal life.
PRAYER
My Lord Jesus,you have given us instructions on what to do inorder to live with you in eternity.
Please gives us the ability to love God with all our hearts,soul,mind and strenght.Most especially, to love our neighbour as we love ourself.
These are instructions that we sometimes cannot carry out with our human strenght.
We call opon you dear Holy Spirit to come and help us keep these instructions.
