If you read your bible, you must have read this verse several times.
Similarly,as a christian, you probable have heard different kinds of sermons. sermons on it .
I have too.
Infact the many time I have read this passage, I normally gloss over it.
I did not take out time to think deeple about it.My understanding however was that as christians, we should give so that we can get.
This scripture however means more than that.

Good measure simple means receiving much more than what you gave to one person.Similarly,it also means you recieve good things, not just from one person, but from several people.
Notice where it says that “men shall give to your bosom”
HOW DOES THE MEASURE YOU GIVE HELP YOU RECEIVE GOOD THINGS.
To understand this, I will give you an illustration.
Lets say a young lady comes to you and request for some cloths .And you see that this lady is really in need of cloths.
You quickly enter your closet and give her 3 of your best cloths. She thanks you and also thanks God for your generosity.
Good will bring people you way that will give back to you without your actually asking them.
God will cause you to receive good things.
Not only from one person, but from several people you do not even know.
WHAT DOES THE BIBLE MEAN BY THE MEASURE YOU GIVE:
The last part of this verse says that the measure you give is the measure you get back.
When you understand this verse, and practice it,that is the secret on how to receive good things from people without asking.
I asked the Holy Spirit to enlighten me on what this sentence means. And the answer lies in the illustration below.
For instance, your neighbour comes to you and ask for 5 cups of rice to feed her children.
You have 20 cups of rice.
OTHER TOPICS THAT MIGHT INTEREST YOU
7 cups of rice, is probably enough for your family. You decide to give your neighbour 3 cups of rice.Instead of the five cups she had asked for.Even though it was in your power to give the five cups!.
A few days later, you are praying and asking God to help with your house rent.
Lets say you need 100k.And God brings somone your way that helps you with 30k. Most probale after a long series of prayer. That is good. But it is not up to what you want or need.
You see,the measure you give ,is the measure you get back.
