HOW TO ENTER GODS REST

There is no day that passes that we do not hear bad. news . The radio ,Television and internet thrive on bad news.this can causes a lot of unrest to set in if not checked.

There is no better time than now to find out how to enter Gods Rest

WHAT CAUSES UNREST

Are you worried over something ?Have you by any chance been layed off from work? Is any of your children giving you sleepless nights? Are you having challenges with your relationships? Is your spouse giving you stress or is it a family member.

Are you up to you neck in debts that you dont even know how to begin to clear off.Is it a good friend that betrayed you?Is there any other thing that is causing you to worry?

Every problem I have mentioned above has a way to keep us continuously worried. One thing I know is that these problems are very real and present but so also is Gods words of encouragement to us.

Remember we are Christians .We were not created to carry burdens. We were created to cast those burdens on Christ..That is why the Lord always referred to us as sheep.

Camels are created to carry burdens. Sheep are meant to follow the shepherd and cast their burdens on the shepherd

When we work very hard, we naturally feel tired and want to rest our minds and our bodies.

This is a natural way of resting .That however is not what we mean by Gods rest.Gods rest is deep and more profound.Gods rest is not a rest from work.It is a rest IN WORK:. EVEN IN THE MIST OF THE PROBLEMS.

The best Illustration we can have is to look at Genesis 1 and 2.

In Genesis 1,God said let there be…..and it was so.Genesis 1 seems to be talking about an expression of God’s thoughts and God’s plans not necessarily the actualization of the plans.

HOW TO ENTER GODS REST

When you get to Genesis 2, it talks about the actualization of this plans. The carrying out of every thought and every plan according to the way  the Lord wants it to be.

Gods rest I would say is working out God’s plan.

It is  the.ability to carry out the work that God has already planned out systematically for you even before you were born.

HOW CAN WE ENTER GODS REST

The only way to enter Gods rest ,is to labor to enter it

Hebrews 4 vs 9 -11 statesThere remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. 11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience”

If you read the whole of Hebrews 4 , God talks about the Israelite’s not entering his rest .

The rest referred to at that  time was the promised land Canaan. And the reason the people did not enter God’s rest was because of unbelieve.

Some other Bible translations say that we should labor to enter God’s rest. It seems to be a contradiction. –

The actual labor being referred to in this passage is the labor against your own will and purpose.

There is nothing as difficult as wanting to do things contrary to your will. Most of the time, what our flesh desires to do is always different from what our Spirit prompts us to do.

In order to enter Gods rest, you first will have to

1.find out what his plan for you is.

2.Pray daily to be able to order and live your life according to.that plan

When we live our lives according to Gods laid out plan,we are working in Gods rest.
