The storms of life are very real today.
As long as you are living in todays world,this is unavoidable.
As a result of this,we need helpful tips to survive the storms of life.Wether you are a christian or not,storms will come.
This blog post will teach you how to be prepared even before they come
WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT THE STORMS OF LIFE?
Many people think that being a believing christian automatically insulates you from the storms of life.
Similarly ,we tend to feel that as long as we obey God,storms will not come.
Unfortunately however,that is not true.
I wish I could tell you otherwise.
I want you to understand that walking in the will of God does not insulate you from the storms of life.On the other hand, understanding the ways of God ,and entering his rest,will sustain you through the storms.
There are a lot of scriptures in the bible that talks about the storms Christ diciples went through.
For instance luke 8 vs 22-25 illustrates this so well.
22 Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.
23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.
24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.
25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.
OTHER EXAMPLES OF THE STORMS OF LIFE
In the example above,notice that Jesus himself told the disciples to cross to the other side.
They acted on his word.And obeyed.
They still ran into a storm.
Most people talked about in the bible went through the storms of life.Ibraham and sarah went through the storm of childlessness for many years.Joseph went through so much trouble for many years.Without any of it being his fault.
David went through his own storms of life .Saul was after his life for years.
Despite all the storms of life ,they all have one thing in common.
They were all walking in Gods purpose.
WHAT THEN DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT THE STORMS OF LIFE
Psalm 34:19-20 says,
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.
20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.
There are a lot of biblical scriptures on the storms of life or the afflictions of a christian.But the good news on the other hand is that the Lord delivers us from them all.
The question still remains however.
HOW CAN WE SURVIVE THROUGH THE STORMS OF LIFE:
You cannot handle storms as they come.
The best way to survive the storms of life , is to prepare for them.!
The story of the wise and foolish builders in the bible,is the secret to surving the storms of life.
46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?
47 As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like.
48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.
49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”
PRACTICAL TIPS TO WEATHER THE STORMS THAT COME YOUR WAY
From the reading above,notice that the same storm comes to two kinds of people.
Firstly,those that hear Gods word and put it to practice
secondly,those that hear Gods word, but do not put it to practice.If you do not have a foundation in Christ,you cannot weather the storms of life.
You will give up.

A lot of christians today,read, hear and speak the word.But many are not doing what the word of God says!
How then can you withstand the storms of life when the foundation is not there?
The only way to lay this foundation, is to read ,listen, and actually practice the instructions of God.
Learn to hear the voice of the Spirit of God in you.And similarly,walk according to the guidance of the spirit.
If the Lord says to your heart, “do not do that”, please listen and and dont do what he says not to do.
If He says go this way,or do that,please follow the instructions of God and do that.
When you continually walk in obedience,you are laying up a strong foundation.
It is this foudation that will sustain you through the storms of life.
MY PRAYER FOR YOU
Holy Spirit,touch the heart of whoever is reading this post now.Help them to understand that obedience to your word is the only way we can lay foundations.
Foundations that can sustain us through the storms of life.
Teach us O Lord to listen to the instructions of the Holy Spirit everyday and follow it.So that at the end,we will be able to withstand all the storms of life that come our way.
Amen.
CONCLUSION
Please notice in luke 6 vs 48.
The bible says “when the floods came” not “if the flood comes “
It simple means that the storms of life will certainly come.If as at the time you are reading this,you dont have any storms,good.
But however,I will advice you to prepare for it.
Because as long as you are a practicing christian in our world of today,the storms of life will come.
Just dont let it catch you unprepared.
