INTRODUCTION
Many Christians today are yet to be familiar with the ways of God.Many are still much more concerned with the power and hand of God in their lives.
Not knowing the ways of God is what leads to a lot of frustrations in our lives as Christians.
I listened to a story from a popular preacher about a person that had a piggy bank . One day he decided to use the money that he had saved in the piggy bank.
Unfortunately after shaking the bank several times,the whole money inside refused to come out.Since he really wanted to use the money inside this bank,he decided to get a hammer and break the piggy bank to get the whole money out.
GOD ALSO WORKS IN THIS WAY :He breaks us most times to get out the best inside of us that otherwise will not come out.
HOW DOES GOD BREAK US
The bible states that many are the tribulations of the righteous .
It also states that as long as you are in this world,you will go through tribulations .
God actually allows these tribulations to come our way .
Through these tribulations,He works on our character to make it more ready and suitable for what he wants to use us for.
John 15 1-5 states “I am the true vine and my father is the vine dresser.Every branch in me that does not bear fruit, he takes away every branch that bears fruit ,He prunes that it may bring forth more fruit”.
.Abide in me and I in you .For as the branch cannot bear fruit of it self except it abides in the vine.no more can you except you abide in me.
I am the vine and you are the branches he that abideth in me bringeth forth much fruits .For without me you can do nothing”.
God allows seemingly stressful and painful situations to come our way and through these situations God proofs our character.
WHY DOES GOD BREAK US
Gods ways are far above our ways.I know I have said that before.That not withstanding, I cannot emphasize that enough.
Why does God break us? This is a question that can be answered as we become more familiar with Gods ways.
The major Reason God breaks or prunes us, is so that we can bear fruit.The usefulness of a tree is its ability to bear fruits.
God is more concerned with ensuring that we bring forth what he has put inside of us .
As the farmer ensures that its plants bring forth fruit, so does God do all he has to do to ensure that we bring out the fruits of the seed he planted in us.
Romans 5 vs 3 really explains why God breaks us “We glory in tribulations,knowing that tribulations work out patience and patience brings character and character brings hope and hope never fails.
There lies the answer. True character can not be built without tribulations.
WHAT DO WE DO WHEN GOD IS BREAKING US
Can you imagine how painful it will be if I am to cut off a little of your flesh with a razor? Your first reaction will be pain. Probable the next thing you might do is to run away from the source of pain
Though we know as Christians that we will go through tribulations at times, actually going through it can be very exhausting.
Most especially if it last very long. We may be tempted to just throw in the towel and give up on God.We may also be tempted to start murmuring and complaining.
I tell you a secret.Whenever you pray for a trial to go away and it remains ,just realize that God himself is walking with you through it.
Ask God to help you go through it.Agree with God to remove what ever the character in you that he wants to remove to make you a better person .
Always remember the scripture that says that everything works out together for good to them that are the called according to his purpose.
